Cookie Policy
Foton South Africa Vehicle Pty Ltd
Effective Date: 2026
Foton South Africa uses a privacy-first consent system that keeps optional tracking disabled until you make a choice.
This Cookie Policy explains the categories available, the providers involved, how consent is recorded, and how you can change or withdraw your choice.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. Similar technologies include browser storage, tags and pixels. Foton uses these technologies to remember your privacy choice, retain limited first-party campaign attribution, support optional website features and, when you permit it, run Google Analytics and advertising measurement through Google, Meta and LinkedIn.
Vercel Web Analytics provides cookie-free aggregate traffic measurement on every visit. Optional functionality, Google Analytics and advertising technologies are disabled by default and activated only after you choose the relevant category.
2. Necessary storage
Necessary storage is always active to remember and apply your privacy choice, support website security and retain limited first-party campaign attribution. The foton_consent cookie contains a random consent identifier, the applicable policy version, the categories you selected and the time of your decision. It is retained for up to 180 days unless you clear it sooner.
The utm_params cookie stores only standard campaign source, medium, campaign, term and content values for up to 30 days. Foton uses these values to attribute submitted enquiries and report campaign performance internally. It remains active when optional categories are rejected and does not contain your name, contact details, Google click identifier or third-party advertising identifier.
Vercel Web Analytics also operates on every visit without setting analytics cookies. It produces anonymous, aggregated page-view statistics using a short-lived daily request hash rather than a persistent user identifier. Foton uses this information for website audience and performance reporting, not advertising, sales profiling or tracking an individual across websites.
3. Optional categories
- Functionality: remembers optional website preferences, including whether the newsletter invitation has already been shown.
- Analytics: allows Google Analytics to measure page use, successful journeys and website performance using analytics identifiers.
- Advertising: allows Google Ads, Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag conversion measurement, campaign attribution and approved advertising personalisation or user-data matching.
4. Providers and identifiers
- Foton South Africa: sets foton_consent to remember your privacy choice, stores utm_params for limited first-party campaign attribution, and may store foton_newsletter_popup_seen when Functionality is enabled.
- Vercel Web Analytics: always provides cookie-free, anonymous and aggregated website traffic statistics without a persistent user identifier.
- Google Analytics: may set identifiers including _ga and _ga_* when Analytics is enabled.
- Google Ads: may set attribution identifiers including _gcl_* when Advertising is enabled.
- Meta Pixel: may set first-party identifiers including _fbp and _fbc when Advertising is enabled.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: may set advertising identifiers including li_fat_id when Advertising is enabled.
5. Consent records
When you make or change a choice, Foton records a pseudonymous consent receipt containing the consent identifier, policy version, category states, time, source, language and, where available, country code. Consent receipts do not contain your name, email address, phone number, raw IP address, Google identifier or advertising identifier.
These records are used to demonstrate and administer privacy choices. They are protected with access controls and retained only for the period approved by Foton's legal and information-governance teams.
6. Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use the Cookie settings link in the website footer at any time to accept, reject or change optional categories. When a category is withdrawn, Foton sends updated consent signals and attempts to remove known first-party analytics or advertising cookies from this domain. The necessary foton_consent and utm_params cookies remain until they expire or you clear site data through your browser settings.
Cookie settings do not disable Vercel Web Analytics because it does not use analytics cookies or persistent user identifiers and is limited to aggregate website reporting. You may object to this processing by contacting Foton using the details below.
Withdrawing consent stops future optional processing but does not undo processing that lawfully occurred before withdrawal.
7. Third-party and cross-border processing
Analytics and advertising providers may process limited data outside South Africa. Foton reviews provider terms and applies reasonable contractual, security and data-minimisation safeguards appropriate to the service.
8. Policy and vendor changes
Foton versions its consent policy. If purposes, providers or privacy terms change materially, the website will treat the earlier decision as expired and request a new choice before enabling optional technologies.
Policy version 2026-08-06.1. Necessary consent and first-party campaign attribution storage remain active; Google Analytics and advertising technologies require your choice.
